James Owen: "She is an athletic, scopey filly that I really liked at the sales and I'm excited that I managed to secure her for a price which will allow her to get into Band D races. She has done extremely well since the sales, has been broken in and is cantering away. I really like her and she has been straightforward to deal with. She will be coming into training in early January and I feel she has a big future ahead of her."
PEDIGREE ANALYSIS:
She is out of the once-raced WINTER SNOW, who was bred by Darley and raced in the royal blue silks of Godolphin. She has produced six foals of racing age, including the dual 6f winner GNAT ALLEY, the 1m novice winner PERISHER, and the SOLDIER'S CALL two-year-old colt TOP BINS, who has been placed three times in his debut season.
By by RAVEN'S PASS, WINTER SNOW is a half-sister to the Gr.1 British Champions Sprint Stakes winner GLENSHIEL and the Gr.3 Sirenia Stakes third SIGNS IN THE SAND, while their dam is the Gr.3 Princess Elizabeth Stakes winner GONFILIA. The latter is a half-sister to the dual German Gr.1 winner GONBARDA, who later found fame as the dam of the outstanding FARHH, winner of the Gr.1 Champion Stakes and Gr.1 Lockinge Stakes and now a successful sire.
It is also worth noting that RAVEN'S PASS is the acclaimed broodmare sire of such luminaries as MISHRIFF, SAFFRON BEACH, RAMATUELLE, TIBER FLOW and KESSAAR, to name just a few. Delving a little deeper into the pedigree, you find the likes of FAME AND GLORY, winner of the Gr.1 Irish Derby and Gr.1 Ascot Gold Cup before going on to a successful NH stallion career, and the Gr.1 1,000 Guineas heroine LEGATISSIMO.
This classy female line is complemented by the ever-reliable Rathbarry Stud titan ACCLAMATION, now 25 years of age but still at the top of his game. It has been another stellar season for the veteran sire, highlighted by a trio of Gr.1 wins for his exceptional Hong Kong-based son ROMANTIC WARRIOR, while he added a seventh individual Gr.1 winner to his career tally when MAKAROVA won the Prix de l’Abbaye at Longchamp.
ACCLAMATION has already crossed successfully with RAVEN'S PASS mares, with the nick being responsible for a trio of winners headed by the Gowran maiden scorer and Hong Kong export JOLT (later known as RICH HORSE), while WINTER SNOW’s previous offspring by the same sire was a 115,000gns purchase as a foal.
