BALLYTECHNO - a five-year-old Milan gelding who cost £70,000 when sold as a store horse and had his first run for us last week when finishing a eye catching second in a 2 mile maiden hurdle.

Making his first ever appearance in an Irish point-to-point in February 2023, he tracked the leaders before eventually finishing a creditable third behind De Tellers Fortune and Laurens bay, both of whom have since won under rules in Britain and finished eighth in a Ludlow bumper towards the end of the 2022/23 season. He demonstrated strength and mature when he came fourth at Worcester in June, and was not beaten far after pulling too hard at Uttoxeter the following month. After a promising start, he is an exciting prospect for the future. He is out of Princess Leia, a half-sister to the gr.2 winning French chaser Princess Kap and the listed-winning French hurdler prince pretender, proven he has ability we look forward to seeing what he can do in novice hurdles this season.

Havana Gold x Zarnava ‘23

This strong son of Havana Gold was purchased at the Goffs UK Doncaster Premier Yearling sale in August and is for sale to stay in training with James Owen in Newmarket. He has pleasing prospects on paper and possesses a touch of quality in his physique and the way he goes in his slower paces. Anthony Bromley of Highflyer Bloodstock purchased this horse for us with his expert eye and below is a quote from him.

I felt this Havana Gold colt from the Doncaster Premier sale was really good value on the day. By a sire who has been an incredibly lucky one for me over the years having bought the likes of Royal Ascot winner Chipotle (£10k) and Streets of Gold (£27k) by him.

He struck me as a colt who was probably in the wrong sale as he was more of a later 2yo /3yo type which is not what people were after at that early Donny sale. He was a real athlete who was correctly made with a smashing outlook and demeanour.
He has a good pedigree with his dam, who won over 1m3f at 3, being by the smart French sire Le Havre and she is herself a daughter of a very useful Aga Khan mare who won a mile Listed race at Chantilly as a 3yo.

There were some soft spots at this auction and I really think this lad fell through the cracks and luckily we were there to scoop him up!”

NAZARE is from a strong champion winning family with plenty of catalogue black type from horses such as Needle Gun, Cloud Castle and Candle dam's side too.

BIG BERT - a imposing son of AFFINISEA is shaping up to be a very exciting prospect.

On very tiring ground, this strong chaser won a Goffs-sponsored maiden point-to-point with conditions proving too much for a couple of the fancied runners. This newcomer stuck to his task and overhauled a experienced five-year-old from Tim Vaughan’s. It was a tremendous performance by BIG BERT and this four-year-old will only improve. With a family that are not short of graded winners over fences , he certainly looks a future Grand National horse in the making.

Shares are LIMITED to only 100 and they are just £500 per share and only £25 training fee’s per month per share. To reserve your share please contact Jade on 07799 746548 or email info@roguesgalleryracing.com.

His first run for us was very pleasing, finishing on 4th in a good class two".  EDISON KENT enjoyed himself with Lilly Pinchin giving him a lovely ride and was very pleased with his performance -"This horse will stay very well and although we will keep him over hurdles for now, he will be a nice novice chaser in time.”

DILLYDINGDILLYDONG - The six-year-old TERRITORIES gelding DILLYDINGDILLYDONG has been flying the flag for Deva Racing during the 2024 Flat season, highlighting the shrewd way in which the team goes about sourcing new horses.

Although he had offered glimpses of his true ability, notably finishing third on his debut behind subsequent Australian Gr.2 winner FRANCESCO GUARDI, DILLYDINGDILLYDONG was a 23-race maiden when picked up by the Deva Racing team at the Tattersalls March Sale earlier this year.

Subsequently sent to James Owen, the upwardly mobile dual-purpose trainer based in Newmarket, he would go on to make his debut in Deva Racing silks in a 1m1½f 0-55 Wolverhampton handicap in early June.

A promising fifth on that occasion, when fitted with his now regular cheekpieces for the first time, he would also finish an excellent third over 1m2f at Lingfield on his next outing before stepping up to 1m4f at Wolverhampton two starts later on the 8th of July.

Partnered by promising apprentice Sean Dylan Bowen, DILLYDINGDILLYDONG was ridden patiently until prowling into contention at the three-furlong marker. Shaken up approaching the final furlong, he soon mastered MISS SLIGO and powered clear to win by three and a quarter length.

Rated just 45 when securing that success, some 29lb below his peak mark, we knew that there would be more victories to follow. He was a narrow second over 1m3f at Kempton eight days after his Wolverhampton win, before returning to Dunstall Park to win a 1m4f 0-60 handicap under former champion jockey Silvestre de Sousa on the 23rd of July.

This time running from a mark of 51, DILLYDINGLLYDONG was always in touch with the leaders, travelling powerfully, before asserting readily a furlong out and going on to win by a length from ORIENTAL ART. This looked a really strong race for the grade, with lots of in-form horses immediately in behind, and it will be a surprise if DILLYDINGDILLYDONG isn’t winning again soon.

He is entered at Lingfield on the 30th of July for a 0-55 1m4f handicap and has plenty of other options on the horizon. He has already given his owners a huge amount of excitement in a short space of time, and we can’t wait to see what is around the corner.

ADDOSH - Deva Racing is proud to present shares for sale in the six-year-old black-type mare, the daughter of The Gurkha is a fabulously consistent and versatile performer, with three wins to her credit over hurdles and one on the Flat.

Originally trained by Hugo Palmer, she was second in a Newcastle novice on her second racecourse appearance before filling the same spot in a Yarmouth nursery on her third start, both over 7f. She maintained her consistent profile until winning a 1m Thirsk handicap in the spring of her three-year-old season, defying a mark of 67 in the process.

Subsequently offered for auction at the Tattersalls July Sale, she found her way to the NH yard of Buckinghamshire-based Stuart Edmunds and made her debut over timber in August 2021.

Runner-up at Stratford on that occasion, she only had to wait a month to open her account over obstacles, coming from last to first to win a juvenile hurdle at Market Rasen in ready fashion. That earned her a tilt at the Listed Wensleydale Juvenile Hurdle at Wetherby in October, a prestigious and informative contest, where she was travelling like the winner until unseating her rider three out.

The winner, Porticello, went on to win the Gr.1 Finale Juvenile Hurdle at Chepstow just two months later, confirming the high level of the form.

She returned after a break to win another juvenile hurdle at Huntingdon in March 2022, then finished third in the Gr.3 handicap for juvenile fillies at the Cheltenham April meeting, earning valuable black-type in the process. Another success followed at Stratford two starts later, where she demolished her rivals in a 2m handicap hurdle by six lengths.

The four-time winner COME ON JOHN.

A £20,000 breeze-up purchase earlier in his career, Come On John was unraced at two but quickly made up for lost time as a three-year-old. After gaining initial experience in maiden and novice company, he was beaten a short-head in a 1m Redcar handicap on just his second start in that sphere.

He was turned out again at Thirsk just a week later and careered away to win by three lengths, despite being harried by a loose horse at a crucial stage, doing so from an official rating of 65. Raised 8lb for that success, he continued to run well for most of the 2022 season, going on to change yards shortly before Christmas that year.

Despite enduring a lean spell for new connections early in 2023, Come On John came roaring back to form to win a 1m½f handicap at Wolverhampton in May of last year, then won again over 1m2f at Brighton just over a fortnight later.

Those two successes took his handicap mark back up to 65 and a spell in the doldrums followed, but he was again in the winner’s enclosure at Wolverhampton (1m1½f) in November 2023.

That proved to be Come On John’s most recent success but he looks primed to get his career back on track for Deva Racing and James Owen, with several factors pointing to an upturn in fortunes.

He began this year rated 59 but now possesses turf and all-weather ratings of just 46. He is equally adept on either surface, and has demonstrated strong form at 1m or 1m2f, and everywhere in between – he even ran creditably over 1m4f on his most recent start. Although the 2024 season has been largely a disappointment, he proved the fire still burns when a narrow third from a mark of 56 at Lingfield in May - there is plenty for the team to work with.

EURKASH - A half-brother to the Listed-placed French chaser Urkashe(Clety), Eurkash was bred in France and made his racecourse debut in a Warwick bumper in April 2018. After three outings in that sphere, he was sent over hurdles during the 2019/20 NH season and displayed promise on several occasions, before going chasing the following winter.

Third at Hereford on his first start over the larger obstacles, Eurkash came good when tackling 2m1f on his second chase start at Bangor. Given a positive ride by Gavin Sheehan, he was driven to the front before the final fence and pulled clear on the run-in to record a highly impressive five and a half-length victory.

He is effective from 2m to 3m and on all sorts of ground, so has the versatility to go with his surefooted jumping technique.

FOREVER PROUD - a four-year-old Sioux Nation proven winner.

Out of the useful four-time winner Marsh Pride, she was unplaced in two outings as a two-year-old but displayed immediate promise the following year. She finished third in a 1m Newcastle maiden on her first start at three and earned an opening handicap rating of 69 shortly afterwards.

That mark had tumbled to just 47 by the time that Forever Proud opened her account in a 1m2f classified contest at Lingfield in January of this year, and she was only rated 48 when winning a class 6 handicap over the same course and distance in May. She is quickly turning into something of a course specialist at the Surrey venue.

A winner or placed in five of her 10 starts this term, there are plenty of strands of form that suggest Forever Proud is capable of progressing her handicap rating to a significantly higher level.

She was third to the subsequently Listed-placed Elim in her maiden at Newcastle, and filled the same position behind her now-stablemate and prolific subsequent winner Destinado at Lingfield in January. Furthermore, she has had four future winners in behind in the two races that she has won this season, and was runner-up to the subsequent winner Villalobos at Lingfield in July.

There is no doubt that this tough and reliable mare can win more races from her current rating, and she is now based with a trainer adept at engineering long-term winning sequences with his charges.

Forever Proud is a genuine filly and has joined a trainer who can be expected to extract plenty of improvement from her. Please get in touch to find out more.

RIZG -  a high-calibre five-year-old gelding by No Nay Never.

Rizg won a 6f Yarmouth novice on his only outing as a two-year-old, and four of the eight horses in behind went on to win races later in their careers. He returned to action at three in a 6f Doncaster novice race, where he finished second, then confirmed himself a very smart performer when fourth in the Listed Carnarvon Stakes.

That Newbury race was absolutely brimming with quality. It was won by subsequent dual Gr.3 and Gr.2 winner Tiber Flow, future Listed winner Sam Maximus was third, and the fifth home, Cadamosto, went on to finish fourth in the Gr.1 Commonwealth Cup on his next start.

To finish in amongst such high-quality horses marked Rizg out as a potentially top-class sprinter. He was also pointed towards the Gr.1 Commonwealth Cup on his next appearance, wearing first-time blinkers, but a slow start seriously compromised his chance and in the end he did extremely well to finish 14th of the 20 runners.

He returned to the track, newly gelded, in a competitive 0-105 class 2 handicap over 6f at Newcastle in June of this year, clearly hinting that his ability remains intact with a midfield finish, beaten less than seven lengths.

Rizg has form that suggests he is not only brilliantly well-handicapped, but a potential Stakes performer of the future, particularly with sprinters typically enjoying such long careers. He is a half-brother to this year’s Gr.3 Tyros Stakes winner Hotazhell, and closely related to the five-time Gr.1 heroine Alexander Goldrun.

Horses with this sort of profile don’t come along very often; please get in touch to find out more about this hugely exciting opportunity.

STAR LEGEND- a beautifully-bred five-year-old son of Galileo who has proven a really consistent dual-purpose performance.

Originally sold for 450,000gns at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, he is out of the French Listed winner Thai Haku (Oasis Dream) and a full-brother to Sarrocchi, who won a Listed race in Ireland for Aidan O’Brien.

Star Legend made four appearances as a three-year-old, notably finishing third in a 1m4f Lingfield maiden, before making his way to the rapidly expanding Newmarket yard of James Owen last year.

He immediately switched codes, finishing third on his hurdling debut at Uttoxeter behind Liverpool Knight (Golden Horn), where he travelled like the winner until fading late on. Brought into the Deva Racing fold after that run, he went on finish third again at Worcester and Southwell, in handicap company on the latter occasion.

A step up to nearly 2m4f led to an improved showing at Huntingdon in November, where he finished second, before he made the winning breakthrough in a maiden hurdle over the same trip at Fakenham. Given a patient ride by Lilly Pinchin, Star Legend powered into the lead before the home turn and stayed on well to win by a length and a half, with nearly 20 lengths back to the third. This was a hugely impressive display and suggested that Star Legend is capable of rating much higher.

Star Legend was given a break over the winter and returned to action with a terrific third at 80/1 in a 1m6f Flat handicap at Chelmsford in March. That run told us a mark of 70 is well within reach on the level, while his hurdles rating of 99 is waiting to be exploited when he goes back over obstacles in due course.

Star Legend is being given all the time he needs to develop into the horse his pedigree tells us he can be and there are many more good days to look forward to with him.
